SIGAda support

A message from Hal Hart (halhart@acm.org), chairman of SIGAda:ACM SIGAda logo

SIGAda is in a position to offer some *support* to members (join if you're not one! :-) who submit successful proposals for papers, panels, tutorials, workshops, etc. (OK, it may not exactly be $$, but it can save you $$.) We are pleased to be able to extend the expanded reciprocal agreement between Ada-Europe and SIGAda whereby SIGAda is an "in cooperation" co-sponsor again for Ada-Europe'97, and we will be able to distribute FOUR CONFERENCE-ONLY REGISTRATIONS to SIGAda members with a presence on the program. Preference will be given to SIGAda Working Groups that as a group or individuals present materials germane to their WG's mission (e.g., present a "product" or conduct an activity that advances WG work), but chances are that an individual not associated with a WG per se can be in the running too. (ASISWG got 2 of the 4 free registrations to Ada-Europe'96 because they conducted a successful day-long workshop there and had a half-day panel session on the conference program.)

Additionally, in cases of important contributions to the Ada-Europe'97 program representing SIGAda work, we may be able to provide assistance via partial travel allowances for those who would otherwise be unable to travel to the conference. (There is a limited part of the WG budgets allocated for travel. For example, some of this was used for one ASISWG member to travel to Ada-Europe this year, and for a workshop organizer who is trying to start a new WG.)

The SIGAda participation in the Ada-Europe'96 program and among the conference attendees was part of the turn-around success of the conference (attendance almost doubled to nearly 200!). The theme ("Reliable S/w Technologies") is at the center of Ada's strengths, so we should be there again.

Organised by Ada UK on behalf of Ada-Europe, in co-operation with ACM SIGAda.
