Social Program

The conference: it's also a place to meet people, socialize and enjoy great events...

Welcome Reception

The welcome reception will take place on Tuesday, June 13, from 18:00 to 20:00, at the gardens of the National Museum of Science & Natural History. During these two hours a selection of drinks and appetizers will be served. Participants will have the opportunity to taste port wine while walking in the gardens.

To get there, participants may ask directions for the National Museum of Science & Natural History, or for the Botanical Garden, located in the same place. The welcome reception will be on the gardens used for the botanical classes, north to the museum, collocated with the Botanical Garden.

The address of the National Museum of Science & Natural History is: Rua da Escola Politécnica 56, 1250-102 Lisboa. The entrance to the garden where we will have the welcome reception is through the gates on the right side of the museum building. You should go through these gates and walk along the museum building towards to the back (north) side of the museum.

You can also use the following Google Maps link to get directions for the museum:

Given that the welcome reception is planned to be outside, we hope the weather will be good. In the unlikely event that it may be raining, we will have to move inside the museum building, and we will provide additional instructions to participants.

Conference Banquet

On Wednesday evening, June 14, the traditional Conference Banquet will be held at restaurant "Casa do Alentejo", which is located downtown. Participants will have the opportunity to taste cod fish baked in olive oil, which is a very typical Portuguese dish.

It will take about 20 minutes to get to the restaurant, walking from the hotel down Avenida da Liberdade. The restaurant address is: Rua das Portas de Santo Antão 58, 1150-268 Lisboa

About the restaurant

The restaurant is in a downtown building that is classified as public interest monument. From the outside it looks like a perfectly normal building, but inside it features several quite exquisite rooms. The building was constructed by the end of the XVII century, but it went through several renovations and changes over the years. About 100 years ago it was profoundly readapted to serve as the first casino in Lisbon, with several luxury rooms being built to attract customers, and to hold big parties. These days we can still appreciate these rooms, which are quite surprising to newcomers. You can see several (spoiler) photos from the restaurant here.

We hope you will enjoy the place and the food!
